Mora d'Ebre is a small, rural town in the heart of the Ebro Valley. Described by the Catalonia Tourist Board as a “new tourist area” the “Terres de l'Ebre” or lands of the Ebro offer a wide range of activities and sightseeing. It is a perfect place to relax and unwind away from the crowds of commercialised tourist resorts or to enjoy an outdoor activity holiday.
This southern stretch of the Ebro Valley is a fertile agricultural area and produces peaches, nectarines, cherries, oranges and almonds as well as olive oil and wine. Throughout the year it is a constantly changing palette of colours: acres of frothy pink and white blossom in spring, trees heavy with fruit through the summer and the golds and reds of the trees and vines in the autumn.
Here, on its final stretch to the Mediterranean the Ebro cuts its way through a series of mountains creating dramatic, craggy landscapes and a fertile, green river valley. To the East and West are 2 Natural parks: Parc Natural Del Montsant and Parc Natural Dels Ports. 40 Minutes downriver is a 3rd Natural Park - The Ebro Delta-one of the most important Mediterranean wetland areas which is home to over 300 species of birds.
The whole region has an intricate network of signed footpaths. The diverse terrain means that you can choose from the gentler slopes of the river valley where you can explore numerous hill villages en route or you can tackle the crags and peaks of the surrounding mountains where you may see eagles and vultures soar overhead.
There are also 2 sections of the Via Verde in this region - routes that have been made from disused railway lines and therefore have few, if any, steep gradients. The surfaces are wide, flat and asphalted which make them ideal for families with children, the elderly or even mobility impaired. These routes cut through spectacular mountain scenery and have a series of tunnels and viaducts, old railway stations and historic villages.
In addition to its natural beauty this area is also rich in history and culture. The villages with their narrow winding streets that dot the skyline of the Ebro Valley continue their traditional handicrafts of pottery, palm baskets and canework. In the nearby cities of Tarragona, Reus and Tortosa you can see Modernist architecture, Roman remains, and Gothic cathedrals. Barcelona is only a 2 hour drive or train journey.
Your holiday apartments are located on the edge of town on a quiet street which runs right by the river. Both have balconies overlooking the river and we can guarantee that when in the apartments you will spend most of your time gazing at the fantastic view and watching the local river life - be it birds, boats or anglers!
The centre of town is only a 3 or 4 minute stroll where there is a good selection of shops, cafes and restaurants and you can experience the life and culture of a traditional Spanish market town.
The top apartment Els Ocells (Catalan for "birds") has one bedroom with 2 single beds and a further 2 people can be accommodated on the sofa-bed in the lounge. There is a dining-terrace at the front of the property with magnificent views over the River Ebro and at the rear is a further large, private terrace with sun-loungers and swing seat.
Les Papallonas (Catalan for "Butterflies") is the second floor apartment and has a large family bedroom with a double bed and a single bed. The 2nd bedroom has 2 single beds and a further 2 people can be accommodated on the sofa-bed in the lounge.
Both apartments are spacious, bright and modern with good quality furnishings and fittings and ample crockery, utensils and appliances including a washing machine. For indoor relaxation you have Satellite TV (Sky Freeview), DVD, radio/CD player, a selection of CDs and DVDs, books and board games. The apartment rental also includes free use of our mountain bikes.
River Ebro Apartments are inspected and registered with the Catalunya Tourist Board.
