Calvin and Nadine, your hosts at Tipi Algarve, spent many summers in the UK roughing it during camping trips with the kids and romantic weekends away sleeping under the stars. Unfortunately the hard ground, smelly damp sleeping bags, leaking tents, lack of space and the copious amounts of kit they had to bring with them was just too much to handle. Just by chance whilst working at the Glastonbury festival they stumbled across a camping option growing in popularity and decided it was time to leave the mud of Glastonbury behind them and bring the concept to sunny Portugal.
 Welcome to the wonderful world of glamorous camping, otherwise known as glamping, luxury camping at its best. Avoid the trappings of a hot tent on a muddy field and enjoy the wonders of nature in comfort and style
Guests can stay in one of Tipi Algarve’s stunning Tipis or a traditional Mongolian Yurt and experience a truly unique holiday amidst beautiful, rustic, natural surroundings.
There are currently four North American tipis, made of cotton canvas on a framework of locally sourced eucalyptus poles, two five and a half metre and two seven and a half metre diameter and one traditional Mongolian Yurt. Each offers a luxurious double bed complete with bedding, cushions, towels, lamps and storage for clothes. Extra beds and bedding can be provided for more guests on request and the great thing about Tipi Algarve is the kids go free!
 For those wanting more traditional accommodation Casa Hibiscus, a one bedroom annexe (sleeping up to three), is also available. Stylishly furnished, the casa has its own roof terrace offering uninterrupted views of Portugal’s protected forestry and includes use of the eco-friendly swimming pool.
But Tipi Algarve is not just about relaxed living; it’s also about green living. Owners Calvin and Nadine Newport are dedicated to running an environmentally holiday destination. All the fruits and vegetables are organically grown; waste food is composted and put back into the land and, where available, eco-friendly products are used. We recycle, reduce and reuse what we can and encourage our guest to do the same.
We offer a tranquil location away from the hustle and bustle of the maddening crowds of summer. However, Tipi Algarve is also just a few miles away from the busy port town of Portimão and a great choice of superb local beaches, whether you want to swim, sunbath or surf.

Camping and caravan facilities
We also have three allocated places for camper vans and four tent pitches available - we also have tent hire if required. On site there are hot showers, flush toilets, hand washing facilities and power supply for mobile phones and hair dryers. Guests enjoy shared use of our eco-friendly swimming pool (chlorine free), sun terrace, gardens, BBQ area and are able to buy and pick their own organically grown vegetables. |
