Clive and June Wolfe moved to their beautiful unspoilt region of Andalucia, Spain with their young family in December 1999 and what started as a dream to live a more simple life soon grew to become much more than they had ever bargained for. Over the years, having developed into an unofficial horse rescue centre, with the odd family pet, goat and lamb thrown in, there life has evolved to provide the perfect holiday retreat for families and couples of all ages. Cortijo Los Lobos now provides two beautifully presented and charming self catering cottages set in large landscaped gardens and sharing a heated pool with possibly one of the best mountain views you will find. Bed and breakfast, half or full board accommodation can also be provided in the family farm house. Our delighted guests often return year after year, and many have become good friends.
The surrounding country side is a haven for wildlife. The farm is nestled amidst olive trees, pine forests and natural park. In the spring time the wild flowers are a sight to behold, with peonies and orchids abundant in the hedgerows. The bird life is amazing, with hoopoes, bee eaters, blue winged magpies, eagles and vultures being common sights. If you are lucky you can also spot the wild Ibex and boar that roam the mountains.
Guided walks for all levels of fitness can be arranged here at the farm for those of you who would like some more indepth insight into the area and its wildlife.
Mountain bikes are available for hire and horse riding on our kind sure footed horses provides the ideal way to see the incredible country side. We cater for all abilities and children are very welcome.
No strict time tables apply, we leave you free to tailor make your holiday, so if you want to just sit by the pool and soak in the stunning views or star studded night time skies, then that is fine, or perhaps you enjoy a bit of walking or cycling, or the odd horse ride here and there, or you may want to ride for a few hours everyday, with picnics or restaurant stops, the choice is yours, we believe that it is your holiday and we will fit in with your plans.
Though we live here on the farm we remain quietly in the background, enabling you to enjoy your privacy, but being on hand to provide any help or advise you may need. Though there may be other holiday makers staying here, you will always have private areas and though the pool is shared it has large terraces and enough sun beds for all. The drinking water here at the farm comes from the mountain opposite and can be seen gushing out of the rock face, in the winter it is an incredible sight (and sound).
If you like to holiday in a larger group, you can hire both cottages and enjoy the exclusivity of the farm.
Though rural and unspoilt, our mountain location is easily reached by a tarmac road, and convenient for motorways to all the major cities and tourist hot spots such as Malaga Granada Seville and Cordoba. We are only 1 hour and 15 minutes from the Seirra Nevada ski resort, meaning that you could be skiing in the morning and sunbathing around our pool in the afternoon – what more could you ask? El Torcal nature area is only a 30 minute drive and is a great favorite amongst our guests.
Our traditional village, Villanueva del Trabuco is just a 5 minute drive and is abundant with restaurants, small shops and bars. Yet to be touched by tourism, fiestas occur frequently and visitors will be able to enjoy the best of Spanish tradition, the parades, the women in traditional dress and the Spanish horses.
All in all you will find a quiet relaxed atmosphere and witness a lifestyle still very simple with herds of goats crossing the land daily in the summer and land farmed in the old fashioned way.
