The cottage is situated in the Alpujaras on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada national park an area well known for its white villages and groves of almond and olive, vineyards and citrus fruits. Bayacas is a small traditional village established by the moors and the cottage itself can only be reached walking the last 250 meters which ensures privacy and tranquillity.
El Bancalillo is surrounded by a natural garden full of trees, shrubs and bamboos giving the place an intimate touch enjoyed by the local wildlife (wild boars are regular visitors)and our guests.
The house includes 2 bedrooms, a living room kitchen area and a bathroom. There is also a large roofed patio for eating "al fresco". We provide sheets and bath towels (not swimming towels).
The kitchen is equipped with gas cooker and electric fridge, there is a water heater. Winter heating is provided by a wood burner (There is a small extra charge for the firewood.
We live in the village of Bayacas itself 5 minutes walk away from the cottage and our activities include organic farming on a small scale, a few olive trees, almonds and fruit trees also a vegetable garden. We can organise small workshops on organic gardening. please ask for more information.
There are a good amount of walks starting from Bayacas that will allow you to discover the fauna and flora of the region. The maize of irrigation channels inherited from the moors provides shade, freshness and a diversity of wildlife along the way. Further afield the staggering immensity of the Sierra Nevada offers unlimited possibilities of treks at various altitudes and different degrees of difficulty.
