Introduction: Join us for a fabulous riding holiday at our beautiful farm In the green heart of mid Portugal. One of the most unspoilt terrains for horse riding in Europe. The spectacular, diverse landscape ranges from eucalyptus, pine and cork oak forests on the lower slopes, with tracks climbing up to heather clad hilltops where you have breathtaking views. We are well away from the tourist trails, even in the peak season you can ride all day and hardly see another person. All riding abilities catered for including families. Full Description: Ride through shady mixed forest of eucalyptus, pine, mimosa, cork oak and of course olives... up onto high ridge tracks, with great gallops for those who want them! There are also plenty of tracks for more peaceful riding, passing through typical Portuguese villages of old stone dwellings (like ours!) contrasted with newer whitewashed clay pantiled roofed homes. The river Ceira runs just 100 metres from our farm and is a lovely clean safe river for swimming. You stay in a 2 bedroom restored stone cottage and can choose between half board (breakfast and lunch) or full board which gives you a chance to discover Steve's (the naked chef mark 2) fantastic mix of European home cooked food. All the horses, dogs and cats are treated as well loved members of the family and are kept at our farm. Our holidays are perfect not only for horse riders, but also for people who enjoy walking, cycling, swimming in the river, or just relaxing. In springtime the air is sweet with orange blossom, heathers, and hundreds of different wild flowers. From our veranda you can see the river, and in summer it's a wonderful way to cool off after riding. Autumn is lovely, with cooler days, and the smell of ripe grapes ready to be picked Stunning scenery, lovely horses and great home cooked food. Please see our web site for more information.
