Jules is the author of the Rough Guide to Portugal and has lived near the pretty town of Góis, in central Portugal, since 2004. His "Green Portugal Walks" have been personally researched and are designed to show you the best of this unsung region, from rustic hamlets to panoramic viewpoint, and local markets to river beaches.

Our holidays are really flexible, so you can stay as long as you like, and you don't have to walk every day if you don't want to. We can also arrange local tours and activities, from a goat-farm visit and cheese tasting to a day's horse-riding.

The walks are self-guided - you get a personal briefing, plus full route guide and map, and all necessary transfers and pick-ups are included. What's more, our walk lunches are simply great! No carrying tired old picnic sandwiches - on many routes you're met halfway with chilled drinks and a catered buffet lunch, while other options include a relaxed meal in a private mountain cottage or a grillhouse market lunch.

Prices and details

A standard short break (3 nights' accommodation, 2 day-walks) starts at €289 per person, but we can arrange stays of any duration. Holidays are based at a lovely English-owned guesthouse near Góis, which has its own outdoor pool, terrace and gardens. Solo walkers and families welcome. All walking holidays include:

Where we are

Green Portugal is based in Góis, which is 45 minutes from the university city of Coimbra, 2hrs from Porto airport (Ryanair flights) or 2hrs 30mins from Lisbon airport (Easyjet).

You don't need a car to come on our walking holidays! We can arrange "meet and greet" airport or train station pick-ups.
