Come and stay with us in our home on the edge of the little village of Pago de San Clemente, close to the wonderful medieval town of Trujillo.

Our rural house, which dates back almost two hundred years, has six double bedrooms (all with en suite bathrooms), a sitting room (with library of books on birds, flowers, butterflies and other wildlife) and dining room, the latter in the beautiful old wine cellar.

One bedroom is wheelchair accessible. The house has a hectare of land, with a swimming pool, olive grove, sheep paddock, chickens and organic vegetable garden. We are set in a small range of hills, covered by old olive groves and small vineyards, with beautiful walks. Our house is a traditional old house, typical in Extremadura, which has been carefully restored to maintain its features such as the vaulted ground-floor ceilings.

Most of the rooms have original tiled floors. We have decorated the house with beautiful old furniture. Casa Rural El Recuerdo is within easy reach of all of the main attractions in Extremadura such as Monfragüe Natural Park, Cáceres, Mérida, Guadalupe and the Villuercas mountains. It is an ideal centre to enjoy one of Europe´s best birdwatching and we offer expert guiding.

We can offer bed and breakfast, pack lunches, evening meals, as well as fully inclusive week holidays. We can cater for all dietary requirements, with mealtimes to suit you.

Just two and half hours from Madrid airport, you will find yourself in the heart of Extremadura.  It is one of the last remaining areas unchanged for generations in Western Europe, endowed with some of the continent's best birding.

Thanks to traditional land use practice and an impressive diversity of habitats, you can see an extraordinary variety of birds. Important for the conservation of breeding populations of species like Black Vulture, Spanish Imperial Eagle, Lesser Kestrel, Great and Little Bustard, Black Stork and wintering concentrations of Common Crane, an incredible richness of raptors, and excellent for sought after species like Bonelli's Eagle, Black-winged Kite, Purple Swamphen, Pin-tailed and Black-bellied Sandgrouse, Red-necked Nightjar, Black Wheatear, Azure-winged Magpie…as well as other typical Iberian species.

It is no wonder that this unspoilt area of Spain draws birders from around the world, a place which enthrals and  people return to again and again.
